Hallway painted with a light green Johnstone's paint colour

Many people reach for crisp white and neutral shades when decorating their hallways. While these colours are effective at bouncing around natural light, they’re not the most inspiring. Ready to unleash your inner interior designer? Green paint colours can be a gorgeous addition to any hallway, bringing the spirit of the natural world into your home.

Never considered green hallway ideas before? Lighter shades of green are perfect for a small space, pairing well with off-whites enriched with yellow undertones. If you want to add depth, you can also introduce more intense greens. You might also want to think about soft pastel ideas if you’re keen to capture a timeless elegance.

Worried that your space is too small to accept anything other than a muted green? Balance out darker shades with other colours, or use your preferred green to create a feature or gallery wall. With an enormous variety of shades to choose from, creating a glorious green theme couldn’t be simpler.

Turquoise is one of the most appealing greens of all. Full of life and perfect for bringing a new dimension to any space, it’s an ideal addition to hallway walls. With a shade like Hydrangea Floret, you can instantly transform your entrance hall with just a couple of coats of paint.

Although it’s a turquoise, this green paint colour plays well with neutrals. It can also be used alongside soft pastel shades, making it a welcome choice if your design tastes are more traditional. Alternatively, you can use this colour on its own, turning to crisp white or a barely-there neutral to pick out room trims and architectural details.

Not a fan of zesty greens? Take a punt on an icier alternative like Winter Woods instead. This glacial turquoise is a stunning alternative to more conventional greens, bringing plenty of minty character to any interior. It will work well with another muted green if you’re interested in experimenting with tonal decorating. However, any of the usual colour pairings you’d use with green can be brought into the mix here.

Stick to tried and tested colour compliments like grey if you favour a simpler aesthetic. Want to embrace luxury? Greige or jewel tones will work well alongside this green hue. If you want to introduce a more playful element, use metallics and texture when selecting room accents.

Soothing green shades are perfect for hallways. They bring the energy of the outdoors to your interior but also help clear your mind as you return home at the end of a long day. Can’t settle on the right hue for your hallway? How about Salinity? This tranquil teal works incredibly well on its own, but can also be used alongside all manner of accents for a colour scheme unique to your home.

You can use a wide variety of blue or green shades alongside this paint colour. Go for a more intense green like emerald if you want to make a statement with a gallery wall. Prefer a more low-key look? Cooler tones like grey are a good choice, although classic white can also be brought into play if you want to keep things simple.

Looking for more subtle green paint ideas? How about something like Clair De Lune? This muted take on emerald green will elevate your hallway, without overwhelming a space with compact dimensions. Pale and pared-back, it’s the perfect choice for narrow spaces or single-storey hallways.

Because it’s a lighter hue, you don’t have to worry about balancing things out with other shades. However, if you’re decorating a larger hallway, it’s worth experimenting with other colours. Softer green shades will create depth and tonality, while earthy hues like brown and tan can be used if you’re after more variety.

If you want to bring the energy of an outdoor space to your hallway, a green paint colour is the way to go. Need some help nailing down the right hue? How about Rosemary Kiss? This spring green shade will instantly refresh your entrance hall, with its pistachio undertones making it a fine addition to a more contemporary home.

You can keep things simple with subtle grey accents. If you want to create a more luxurious hallway aesthetic, you can even use hues like greige. Would you rather create a nature-inspired aesthetic? Use earthy tones and natural materials to bring your colour and decor schemes together.

Can’t make your mind up between blue and green? With both of these colour families boasting similar properties, you don’t have to choose. With a paint colour like Churchyard Rain, you get to enjoy the revitalising qualities of green and the soothing appeal of blue at the same time.

With its foggy character, this pale aqua-green shade will set the right tone in any hallway. It’s pale enough that it won’t leave a compact space feeling smaller, while there’s enough depth that it won’t feel washed out in a larger interior. It also works well alongside a wide variety of colours. Use any shade of blue or green to make your colour scheme more interesting, or introduce cool-toned staples like grey.

Minty green is a fine choice for a hallway. It revitalises a tired space while providing you with a pure blank canvas that can easily be personalised with your favourite accent colours and room accessories. Looking for the right shade? How about Gull Feather? With its grassy tones and vibrant minty backbone, it’s an ideal choice if your hallway needs a refresh.

If you want to open up a smaller space, let this minty green fly solo, using nothing more than crisp white for finishes. Alternatively, use cool-toned blues or greens to complete your colour scheme. In terms of furnishings, keep things simple with smaller spaces that won’t impede your square footage.

A delicate green is an inspired choice for a hallway. Ideal for creating a soothing atmosphere, it’s one of the best colour choices if you struggle to switch off at the end of the day. With its crystallised properties and subdued pigment, a shade like Tenderness is a great option if your hallway is crying out to be redecorated.

Just about any other shade of green will play well alongside this hue. You can also turn to cooler blues if you’re keen to make your hallway more visually interesting. Failing that, pure white can always be used for those finishing touches.
