All surfaces should be clean, dry and free from grease. Remove any loose or flaking paint. Treat any mould or lichen with a fungicidal wash as directed. Sand smooth natural planed wood and wipe clean with white spirit to remove any natural oils or resins and allow to dry. Rub down sound glossy surfaces with fine waterproof abrasive paper and rinse thoroughly to provide a key. Avoid the inhalation of dust. Wear a suitable face mask if dry sanding. Treat new or bare wood surfaces with a clear preservative, prime metal surfaces with an appropriate primer.
Stir well before use and apply by brush. Apply one coat of Johnstone’s Exterior Primer Undercoat followed by two coats of Johnstone’s Exterior Satin. The surface will be touch dry in 1 to 2 hours, allow approximately 2 to 4 hours drying between coats under normal conditions. For maximum performance Johnstone’s Exterior Primer Undercoat and Satin should be applied as a system. The final colour achieved will depend on the colour and porosity of the surface and the number of coats applied. Do not apply when air or surface temperatures are below 10ºC or in damp conditions.
Remove as much product as possible from brushes before cleaning. Clean equipment immediately after use in warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
